Store cleaning in Rhode Island - clean retail store floor

Retail cleaning is about first impressions

A store is judged in the first few seconds: the doormat, the floor under the front rack, whether the restroom is somewhere you would send a customer. Store cleaning covers the customer-facing space and the back-of-house areas that keep it running, and its main job is to make the whole place look cared for.

Retail in Rhode Island ranges from small Main Street storefronts, like those downtown in Woonsocket, to strip plazas and larger shopping centers along the main routes through Warwick and Cranston. Large open floors, like the big-box retail floor in the photo on this page, are much of the work: they show every scuff, and the front few feet of a store take the abuse of whatever came in off the street. In winter that is salt, sand and slush that dulls the finish within days.

When your store needs more than a daily sweep

  • The entrance floor looks gray and gritty no matter how often it is swept.
  • Checkout counters and the floor around them feel sticky.
  • The end-of-aisle floors are scuffed from carts and pallet jacks.
  • Customers have mentioned the restroom.
  • You are about to reset the layout, take inventory, or welcome a new tenant into the unit next door.

How we clean a retail space

  1. We look at the trafficWhere do customers walk, where does dirt collect, and which hours are busiest.
  2. We set the timingBefore open, after close, or in quiet periods, whatever disturbs customers least.
  3. We start at the doorEntrance and mats first, then aisles and the sales floor, then checkout areas and restrooms.
  4. We handle the floors properlyRoutine mopping and scrubbing, with stripping and waxing scheduled when the finish has worn through.

What affects the price of store cleaning

  • Floor area. A 1,500 sq ft shop and a large open store are very different jobs.
  • Floor type. Sealed concrete, vinyl tile and ceramic are cleaned differently.
  • When the work happens. Work around opening hours can take more planning.
  • Frequency. Daily, a few times a week or weekly, depending on foot traffic.
  • Extras. Floor stripping and waxing, carpet cleaning or moving displays are scoped on top.

We would rather see the store, or hear a clear description of it, than give a number that turns out wrong.

Why store owners call D'best

We do more than mop. The same company that handles your daily clean can strip and wax a worn sales floor, which is often the fix a scuffed retail floor needs. With 25 years in the trade, we know how finishes behave under shopping carts and winter foot traffic.

Store cleaning questions

Can you clean my store without getting in customers' way?

That is a scheduling question we settle up front. Many store owners prefer cleaning before opening or after closing, while others are fine with quiet-hour work. We plan around your hours and your busiest times.

Do you clean stockrooms and back-of-house areas?

Yes, if you want them included. Customers only see the sales floor, but a tidy stockroom and staff restroom make daily work easier. We list what is covered before we start.

My store floor looks scuffed and dull even after mopping. Can it be refreshed?

Often, yes. If the floor is vinyl or tile with a finish on it, stripping and waxing resets it. If it is sealed concrete or another surface, we will tell you what is realistic. See our floor stripping and floor waxing pages for how that works.

How often should a retail store floor be cleaned?

Entrances and checkout areas collect dirt fastest, so they need attention most often. A small shop may need a few cleans a week, while a busy store can need daily work. We set the frequency with you after seeing the traffic.

Do you clean storefront glass?

No. We do not offer window cleaning, and that includes storefront glass. We focus on the floors, restrooms and interior of the store.
